Currently sitting inside a small restaurant at El Viajero Hostel in Medellin, Colombia. It’s three in the afternoon. Salsa is playing on the radio and I’m awaiting my first meal of the day.
How am I feeling right now?
Well, I feel pretty good despite the fact my cellphone broke the moment I started this backpacking journey and have no means of communicating with the outside world. It’s just me and my brain. No internet to keep me comfortable. Nothing to help me with directions and translations.
And you know what that means? It means that the outcome of this year long trek around South America is solely reliant on JUST ME. Insane right?
Before leaving the United States, I asked the universe to give me confidence while backpacking, and the funny thing about that is I didn’t think for a second that the coursework for it would involve me losing everything.
Though this backpacking experience isn’t exactly what I asked for, I am grateful. It’s been an adventure and I am eager to see where the rest of the year takes me.
